Kate O’Mara played the Rani in Dr Who: the Mark of the Rani. For part of the programme, the Rani supposedly wore a mask to disguise herself as an old crone. In fact, Kate O’Mara never wore a mask or prosthetics: the disguise was achieved with pale foundation and old-age stipple along with a hairpiece. The unmasking scene used a jump-cut to show the Rani already halfway through pulling over a mock mask. |
